These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website located at www.generaltensor.io (the “Site”), operated by General Tao Ventures Inc., doing business as General Tensor (“General Tensor,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Site, including any wallet connection features or staking interface made available through the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. Eligibility
By using the Site, you represent that:
- you are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, whichever is higher), and
- you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
The Site is not intended for children and must not be used by individuals under 18.
2. Scope of Services
The Site is provided for two primary purposes:
- to provide information about General Tensor and its services; and
- to provide access to features that allow users to interact with third-party blockchain networks and tools, including connecting a wallet and staking $TAO to a validator (including a validator operated by us) (collectively, the “Services”).
Important: We may change, suspend, or discontinue any portion of the Site or Services at any time, without liability.
3. No Custody / No Control Over Wallets
You acknowledge and agree:
- We do not custody your digital assets.
- We do not hold or control your wallet private keys, seed phrase, or credentials.
- You are solely responsible for securing your wallet and access credentials.
If you lose access to your wallet, we cannot recover it for you.
4. Wallet Connection & Third-Party Services
The Site may allow you to connect a compatible digital wallet (“Wallet”) and interact with staking functionality through a web interface.
You acknowledge:
- Wallets are typically provided by third parties, not by us.
- Your use of any Wallet or third-party provider is subject to their terms and privacy policies.
- We are not responsible for any issues arising from wallet software, wallet providers, network congestion, RPC providers, or other third-party infrastructure.
5. Staking & Validator Participation
5.1 User-directed actions
Any staking action you take is initiated and authorized by you. You are solely responsible for:
- reviewing transaction details before submitting,
- gas/fees and transaction costs,
- ensuring the correct validator address and network selection.
5.2 No guarantee of rewards
Staking rewards (if any) are not guaranteed. Rewards may vary due to:
- protocol rules,
- network conditions,
- validator performance,
- slashing/penalties (if applicable),
- changes to Bittensor or related infrastructure.
5.3 No liability for protocol changes
Blockchain networks and protocols can change unexpectedly (including forks, upgrades, parameter changes, downtime, governance decisions). We are not responsible for losses caused by:
- protocol changes,
- chain reorganizations,
- bugs,
- validator selection mechanics,
- network attacks,
- downtime of the underlying network.
5.4 Slashing and penalties
Where applicable, staking may expose you to slashing, penalties, or loss of rewards. You acknowledge you understand and accept these risks.
6. Risk Disclosures (Important)
By using the Site and Services, you acknowledge and agree that
6.1 Digital assets are risky
Digital assets are volatile and risky. You may lose some or all of your staked assets or associated value.
6.2 You are responsible for your decisions
You are solely responsible for all decisions and actions you take relating to digital assets, staking, and validator selection.
6.3 No investment advice
Nothing on the Site constitutes:
- investment advice,
- financial advice,
- legal advice,
- tax advice,
- trading advice, or
- a recommendation to buy, sell, or stake any asset.
You should consult qualified professionals as needed.
6.4 No fiduciary duty
General Tensor is not a fiduciary, broker, intermediary, agent, or advisor. No fiduciary relationship is created by your use of the Site or Services.
7. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- use the Site in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Site or its infrastructure;
- use the Site to transmit malicious code or attempt unauthorized access;
- use automated scraping or crawling that materially burdens the Site;
- misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
- use the Site for fraudulent or abusive activity.
We may suspend or block access for violations.
8. Intellectual Property
The Site and its content (including text, branding, logos, design, and non-user-generated materials) are owned by or licensed to General Tensor and protected by intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Site for personal or internal business purposes in accordance with these Terms.
You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Site content without prior written permission.
9. Feedback
If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us the right to use them without restriction or compensation, unless prohibited by law.
10. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Site, you consent to our privacy practices as described there.
Marketing communications (if any) will be governed by the Privacy Policy and applicable law. You can opt out at any time using unsubscribe links or by contacting us.
11. Disclaimers
11.1 Services provided “as is”
The Site and Services are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of:
- merchantability,
- fitness for a particular purpose,
- non-infringement,
- accuracy, reliability, or availability,
- uninterrupted or error-free operation.
11.2 No guarantee of uptime
We do not guarantee the Site or Services will be available at all times or free of errors.
11.3 Third-party and network disclaimers
We do not guarantee the performance, security, or availability of:
- Bittensor or related networks,
- blockchain infrastructure,
- wallets,
- RPC providers,
- browser extensions,
- third-party integrations.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
General Tensor and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or digital asset losses, arising from or related to:
- your use of or inability to use the Site or Services;
- staking actions, validator selection, or blockchain transactions;
- slashing, penalties, downtime, or protocol changes;
- security incidents involving your wallet or third-party services.
In no event will our total liability exceed the greater of:
- USD $100, or
- the amount you paid us (if any) for the Services in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless General Tensor and its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- your use of the Site or Services,
- your violation of these Terms,
- your violation of any law or third-party rights,
- your blockchain transactions or staking activities.
14. Suspension / Termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or pose a risk to the Site or others.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including: intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law.
15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the British Virgin Islands, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought in the competent courts located in the British Virgin Islands, and you consent to such jurisdiction and venue.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and revise the “Last Updated” date.
Your continued use of the Site after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
